Bioness NMES Leg and Hand Units

Bioness is designed to help with foot drop due to conditions such as stroke (CVA), multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy (CP), traumatic brain injury (TBI), or incomplete spinal cord injury. The L300 thigh and calf cuff can be used separately or together and use low-level functional electrical stimulation to elicit a muscle contraction at specific times in the gait cycle.

The thigh cuff is used to assist with control of bending and straightening the knee and the calf cuff is used to help with lifting the toes and forefoot during the swing phase of walking to help you walk more efficiently. The H200 hand unit provides low-level electrical stimulation to activate the nerves and muscles of the hand, enabling the ability to regain hand mobility and purpose.

 RT300 12 Channel FES Cycle

The RT300 system combines therapeutic modalities to create complex integrated functional electrical stimulation (iFES). The FES cycle uses safe, low-current electrical impulses to activate paralyzed or deconditioned muscles and creates patterned movement in your arms, legs, and core. Clients are able to choose between using either the upper body cycling or lower body cycling. Up to 12 muscle groups can be stimulated at one time.

When working the lower extremity, the RT300 mimics a gait pattern by stimulating select muscle groups at different times during the gait cycle. This allows the patient to incorporate proper movement patterns of the gait cycle into their everyday life.

Xcite V2

The XCite allows clinicians to apply multi-channel FES with task-specific activities commonly completed in therapy. With a wide variety of pre-programmed activities- from activities of daily living and strengthening to postural re-training and upper/lower mobility skills - nearly any individual with neurological weakness or paralysis will benefit from using XCite. We use the XCite to enhance the impact of traditional therapeutic activities that support muscle re-education.

TurboMed XTern AFO

The TurboMed XTERN AFO (ankle foot orthosis) controls foot drop and allows for easy plantar flexion in order to maintain maximal ankle range of motion and calf muscle strength. The most unique part of the XTERN AFO is that it fits over your shoe instead of inside your shoe. Oftentimes, people find it more comfortable. It can allow running, walking, and hiking. Unlike a conventional foot drop brace, it can fit on a variety of shoe wear interchangeably including hiking footwear, winter boots, or safety boots.

Hip Flexion Assist Device (HFAD)

The Hip Flexion Assist Device (HFAD) is intended for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and stroke (CVA) who are ambulatory, but have difficulty initiating swing due to hip flexor weakness. The HFAD is designed to improve gait and consists of a comfortable waistband and two dynamic tension bands that attach to the shoe. The device may be worn over or under clothing.

Trionic overground walker

The “off road” capabilities of the Trionic make it a great companion for walking on uneven terrain and snow while hiking and exploring The Great Outdoors. The Trionic is easy to breakdown, has larger 14” tires that enables easier maneuverability over a variety of terrains and the handles can adjust higher than a typical walker for taller clients.

Recumbent Trikes

We utilize recumbent trikes from Voltaire Cycles in order to give clients the freedom of biking outside while also helping those that might have balance problems that prevent them from using an upright bike.

Kayaks and Paddle Boards

Our fleet of kayaks allow for both tandem and single person use.  We work on a variety of skills with kayaks depending on the goals of the client including loading and unloading from a vehicle, carrying a kayak, getting in and out of the kayak, paddling forward and backwards, interval training. Our stand up paddle boards (SUPs) allow us to incorporate fun balance and core training on the water.

Blaze Pods

Blaze pods are a fun and interactive way to focus on reflex and reaction training. Blaze pods can be used as an external cue to help a patient improve various movements, balance, and their reaction time.

ReWalk Exoskeleton

ReWalk is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that provides powered hip and knee motion to enable individuals with a spinal cord injury to stand upright, walk, make turns and negotiate ramps and through doorways. The system allows independent, controlled walking while mimicking a natural gait pattern.

ReWalk has a dedicated reimbursement team which can assist you with seeking coverage for your own ReWalk Personal exoskeleton. Destination Rehab has undergone the appropriate training and our therapists are able to offer patients exoskeleton training for individuals with an SCI who would like their own devices to use at home and in the community.

Are you a US Veteran? In 2015, The United States Department of Veterans Affairs announced a national policy for the evaluation, training, and procurement of ReWalk personal exoskeletons for all qualifying US veterans.
